Violinist Blake Pouliot is a gifted and multifaceted performer. He has had the lead role in two international award-winning movies, The Bicycle and Bend in the Road, numerous television shows, and has garnered many accolades as a concert violinist. Since his solo orchestral debut with the Toronto Trinity Chamber Orchestra at the age of 11, he has performed as soloist with orchestras such as the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Hamilton Philharmonic, and the Jefferson City (CO) Symphony. During the 2014–15 season, he made his debut with the Calgary Philharmonic as well as his Walt Disney Concert Hall debut with the Colburn Orchestra.
Blake has won numerous awards and prizes, including the Canada Council’s Michael Measures Prize (2013), and the interdisciplinary grand prize at the Canadian National Music Festival. He is currently a Performance Diploma candidate at the Colburn School Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles, California. Blake is originally from Toronto and currently based in Los Angeles
1729 Guarneri del Gesù violin
Made in Cremona, Italy in 1729 by the famed luthier Giuseppe Guarneri del Gesù, it is a characteristic example of this period of the maker's work and has outstanding tonal quality. In 1986 Gordon Jeffrey, a great patron of music and scion of the family that founded London Life Insurance Company, bequeathed it to the University of Western Ontario. An anonymous donor purchased it in 1997.
