Isabella D’Éloize Perron (First Prize)

Violinist, vocalist and pianist Isabella D’Éloize Perron is certainly one of the rare artists who could be thought of as a prodigy. Her style of play is imbued with spirit and intensity and shows an astonishing maturity and an authentic musicality that is both unique and sincere. She has been awarded many prizes and distinctions, including first prize at the International Radio Competition for Young Musicians Concertino Praga, organized by Czech Radio under the patronage of the EBU (European Broadcasting Union), which earned her a tour in the Czech Republic; second prize at the Klein International String Competition, in San Francisco, first prize at the National Music Festival, in Canada, and first prize and highest score in all categories at the Canadian Music Competition.

David Liam Roberts (Second Prize)

The winner of the first prize and grand award at the 2018 National Music Festival, in Canada, cellist David Liam Roberts was named one of Canada’s “30 Hot Classical Musicians Under 30” by CBC in 2019. A full scholarship student at the Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory of Music, he is currently studying under Hans Jørgen Jensen and Andrés Díaz.

What is this prize?

The Michael Measures Prizes recognize promising young Canadian classical music performers. The prizes are awarded to young musicians 16 to 24 years of age who are enrolled in the summer training program of the NYO Canada (National Youth Orchestra of Canada).

$25,000 for First Prize
$15,000 for Second Prize

Who created this prize?

Michael Measures was a great music lover and engaged volunteer in Ottawa’s artistic community. Upon his death, he made a generous bequest to the Canada Council for the Arts so that it could provide development opportunities for young classical musicians and encourage public recognition of their achievements.
